Absolutely. Kids are welcome to participate in the fun, while adults can enjoy the Biergarden vibe. We make sure it stays inclusive and laid-back.
Where can I park or arrive?
Parking is available in the lots south of the Lauridsen Amphitheater, and we’re also located adjacent to the Water Works bike trail. Restrooms and potter potties will also be available.
Can I bring my own chair, blanket, or games?
Yes. Feel free to bring lawn chairs, blankets, hammocks, and refillable water bottles. We also provide picnic tables.
Is payment cash or card?
The Oktoberfest event will accept cash and card. Purchases are accepted via credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.
Who is behind this Oktoberfest?
The event is organised by Des Moines Biergarten in coordination with the Water Works Park Foundation—a partnership building on the Biergarten's German-themed beer garden experience. A portion of proceeds from Oktoberfest will benefit the Water Works Park Foundation.
Why are you doing this event?
After community demand and the previous Oktoberfest moving to Ankeny, we wanted to bring an authentic, accessible Oktoberfest back to Des Moines—right here at Water Works Park.
